NSmovieView - MovieController

I need to make a NSSlider mimic the MovieController - i.e. be in synch with it, so I can control the movie playback from either.
In Java I would've perhaps added a listener - how do I do it in Cocoa? Surely there must be an easier way than by adding a timer?
