That is correct. Unfortunately we have no mechanism at present for
extending this.

Since Apple does not offer a way of extending this, I have been
thinking of writing my own implementation of the TeX hyphenation
algorithm. Using it, I could at least create a version of TextEdit,
which would allow users to choose the language for automatical
hyphenation. Maybe other Cocoa programmers would like to use it too.
However, if Apple is going to enhance Cocoa's hyphenation feature in
the near future, I would be better of spending my time doing something
more useful. Is there any idea, if Apple is going to improve this
feature, and if it is, when might this be?
