I am sorry I don't have the direct answer (the code seems to me quite
right), but have you considered placing the part of UI which is to be
generated into a separate NIB, loading it as many times as needed?

Agreeably, for just one button it would be impractical; most often one
needs to generate a more substantial part of UI though, in which case
the NIB approach beats programmatical creation no sweat.
