It was a bit hard to download for me as well.
I had to catch the FTP address and use Transmit to log to the US
server, the european was overwhelmed.
Just catch the ftp address that includes you login and pw just after
you clicked the download link and use a FTP client.

have you tried to copy parts of the update cd from ADC dev site?
parts are
quite doable for download, then you just reconstruct the actual cd and
install from there.
My problem was connecting to the ftp in the first place. I have found
the only way to do it was to turn off my firewall, turn off pasv mode
and connect to usa2 (europe complained of an incorrect password). Now
I am connected, it all seems fine. I should not have to turn off my
firewall though.

Is that a final build or still a beta version of XCode?
The ADC site doesn't mention anything about beta status and does say
it's a full update for Xcode :) About time 'cos 1.1 was still rather
flaky for me :(

No. And it's Xcode ;)
Sorry, yes :) I just got used to 6 years of iMac, iPhoto, iTunes,
iDVD, iMovie, eMac, iSight, iBook ... :) Now having to get used to
Xcode, Xserve, Xsan - it's all too much!! :)
To everyone - be warned, this is a full cd image - 640Mb. Tbh, it is
prob only about 400Mb of stuff but they've packaged it as a cd image
(at a guess 'cos it's still downloading...) to make it easy to burn to
cd. Oh well.
