You might also consider Macrovision's FlexNet. We currently use FlexLM,
which now seems to have been subsumed into FlexNet. The way we use FlexLM
involves the user dropping a license file in the right folder, which grants
them access to different features of our product. Very simple and effective.

It works pretty well, though it may be quite expensive. (I don't get
involved in the commercial side :-)
