Sliding an image

I know this was asked for at WWDC as the code in NSWorkspace doesn't actually do anything, but has there been any third party code to do such a thing?

I took a look at OmniAppKit but they don't seem to have a version in there. Infact there's a comment about the code having to be re-written and it's only shown in the interface. I assume it existed on older NeXTSTEP versions of OmniAppKit.

Also, can anyone recall the hack to make the menus tear-off from the title bar? I was told today that there was one which worked on older MacOS X systems. I'm guessing it was a user defaults value. My concern is that the interfaces to menus have changed in recent years and it's disappeared from the system.
