I am trying to use IOPMSchedulePowerEvent to tell the computer to wake up at a certain time. However, I am receiving this error: kIOReturnNotPrivileged.

What does this mean exactly?

My guess is that you have to have administrator/root privileges to do this.

And how do I become privileged?

I think you have to be born into it. Wouldn't know, though, since I'm not :)
