He was making a sort of joke, saying he prefers the 'NS' to the 'k' prefix.

There is no Cocoa API to get the path to the 'Application Support'
folder.  It's too bad, but that's how it is.  I have just filed <rdar://

Oh no! Not the letter 'k'! :)  FSFindFolder is the only correct way to do
what you want.
