Preview.app-style thumbnail NSTableView

Hello List:

I haven't been able to find the methods that will help me achieve what Preview.app does with it's thumbnail table view. The functionality that I want to duplicate is how the thumbnails are loaded when the cells are displayed for the first time after the user stops scrolling when the "Automatically load all thumbnails" option is off.

Also, I need to be able to determine which rows are currently being displayed.

Any ideas?
