I'm from a Java/Linux, Windoze when forced, background and bought my
first Mac about 1 1/2 years ago, a Powerbook. I have had very bad luck
with the hardware but because of things like seeing apple tech staff
actively participate in mailing lists and having technical support
follow up with me about bugs I've filed has kept me onboard with OS X.
Didn't mean for this to sound like a Switch commercial but I just
wanted to pipe up and voice my appreciation for everyone's involvement
as I've been told it is usually voluntary and off the clock. Thanks!

Folks,
My name is Matthew Formica, and I am Apple's new Cocoa & Developer
Tools
Technology Evangelist in Apple's Worldwide Developer Relations Group.
I
just wanted to say "hi" to all and introduce myself briefly...
I know many of you already from postings to this list, as well as my
years
of work in Developer Technical Support, helping you code Cocoa & tools
solutions through your DTS incidents. I have greatly enjoyed my time
coding
and helping you all get past blocking issues, but I also am now looking
forwards to helping encourage the use of Cocoa in the developer
community,
as well as taking feedback to Apple's engineering on how to make Cocoa
be
the best it can be.
My new role won't have me helping solve specific technical questions
as much
(DTS is still available to find workarounds and arrive at resolutions
to top
technical issues). However, please do send feedback on Cocoa to
email@hidden - I and others read it to see how we can
improve Cocoa. Beyond that, if your company is new to Mac OS X and
wants
more information on Cocoa development, or you have a bug # for a bug
you've
filed that is blocking your product from shipping, or have other
comments or
concerns about the API, please send them my way - email@hidden.
I'm also the new Developer Tools Evangelist, so I'll be encouraging and
tracking use of our Xcode Tools in the developer community as well.
You'll see more of me around in upcoming months, whether it be at Cocoa
workshops, WWDC, helping list-mom this list, or the like, and I look
forwards to meeting many of you!
Regards,
Matthew Formica
