I have been trying to generate preference options but have been experiencing
problems so I have resorted back to the minimal code and am seeking assistance.

If these are preference panels that only show up in your own app, just put them in your app's bundle (and not with any global preference panels), and only look there - that way you'll only get what you want and put there.
