I'd recommend SQLite

SQLite's been recommended here a number of times. I've built the latest SQLite from CVS on Mac OS X 10.3.2 with the Xcode 1.1 tools installed. However, "make test" gives me an odd failure:

btree-1.1.1...../sqlite/src/btree.c:2689: failed assertion `pPage->isInit'

Is this only a problem with the version in CVS, or have other people seen this as well? I'm just wary of building anything on top of a library that fails its unit tests, and I don't have the knowledge of SQLite internals to fix it quickly, since it's not an immediately-obvious bug.

(Yeah, I should probably take it up with the SQLite community. But I figured I'd ask some people who I know are using it in a similar situation first...)
