I can't comment about frequency of addition in general, however it's reasonable to say that if no official request is received (and writing to a list such as this does not constitute an official request) then there's much less likelihood that the issue will be addressed.

(Note, this is not to criticise you for bringing up the issue, but rather to suggest a general technique for "officially" registering your views and wishes. IMHO it's also often worth raising issues like this in a public forum (such as this list) as a sort of RFC prior to submitting requests.)
