We would also like to devise a solution for people who e-mail us and ask,
"hey, can I get a few more days on my trial period?" The problem with this
is that all the ways to give them a few more days that I've thought of so
far are insecure.

Not sure if this would be reasonable, but one solution is to offer a program on your web site that is automatically built each day with a time stamp so it only runs on that day. Have that app delete (or modify - whatever) the users expired license.

The user could still download this app each day, but I'm guessing the hassle wouldn't be worth it.

Matt
