Slight digression...
but this technique can also be useful against piracy, namely patches where the patch typically checksums the binary to be patched e.g. SHA1 or MD5 checksum. Of course this doesn't stop the cracker from making the patched application available on the web or P2P networks.
However, it seems there would be a fair bit of work on the back-end... is it worth it? Anybody know of companies actually doing this?
