Dear All,
I've completed most of the work on the Graphviz port, which counts as
my first serious Cocoa (though not my first Macintosh) app. Thanks
immensely to all the regulars of macosx-dev, especially Bob Ippolito,
mmalcolm crawford, Shawn Erickson, Scott Anguish and others for their
help with Cocoa and putting up with some rather basic questions. Thanks
also to John Ellson and Stephen North of AT&T for trusting their baby
to a stranger from down under.
If you don't already know, Graphviz is a UNIX-based automated graph
layout program -- you don't have to figure out the graph, unlike apps
like dia, Visio and Omnigraffle, the program figures it out for you.
I've enhanced the app with lots of Mac goodness -- an Aqua
document-based GUI, Quartz rendering and Quicktime image exporting.
Take a look at:

This is a limited public beta and your feedback on all fronts is
welcome. Please send all email to:
email@hidden
In particular, I'm interested in the following:
1. Differences/discrepancies in result and performances between:
a. Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3
b. Quicktime and Quicktime Pro, types of bitmap formats available in
the Export dialog box.
c. UNIX/Linux install and a Mac OS X install: compare the ps, png, jpg
formats.
2. Performance with large graphs.
3. Suggestions for improving the GUI. There's two things I intend to
add to it:
a. Printing from the app.
b. A refresh/reload button and a way to disable automatic refresh.
4. Anyone willing to localize for non-English languages?
5. Anyone interested in the graphviz API? (It will not be a ObjC
interface, I don't have the time for this, but just the documented
existing interface expressed as private framework headers)
Look forward to your comments!
Cheers, Glen Low
