Kernel crash

I have 10.2.8 still running. I just experienced, for the first time, a kernel crash. I was in the process of re-compiling a large program. The crash not only froze everything, it wiped out several large .m files in the process.

Given its infrequency, I wondered if anyone else has seen this problem? Or if perhaps a virus is going around?

I have reported it.
