Maybe someone else can tell me if this was suggested before and why it was declined... or who I should really make this request to.

If you're using Mail.app you can just set a rule to detect "Any recipient" containing "email@hidden" and you can then apply whatever action you want to the mail (I colour mine green, for instance).
