HeaderDoc 8.0 produces lovely class documentation for Objective-C. (8.0
appeared unannounced on the Apple Darwin site within the last couple of
weeks.)
But the index of all methods is missing from the generated MasterTOC.html
page. This is a serious issue, because it means a reader cannot scan the
list of all methods to zero in on the one desired.
When I run my shell script phase to generate documentation using 8.0, I see
this message logged:
Old LibXML2 version. XML Output may not work correctly.
This surprises me, because my /usr folder contains a version of LibXML2
dated May 11, 2004. I suspect that this error message is spurious -- or
that, perhaps, Apple built HeaderDoc 8.0 using a future version of Mac OS X.
I'm guessing that the index for the MasterTOC.html page uses XML to generate
the list of methods, and that installing the expected LibXML2 version might
cure this problem. Any advice on whether this might be so, and how to go
about installing the expected LibXML2 version?
Or is there another workaround? For example, do I have to set something up
for use by gatherHeaderDoc.pl if I haven't used 8.0 before?
I installed HeaderDoc 8.0 over HeaderDoc. 8.0b1. I don't think this explains
the LibXML2 issue, because the installer script doesn't mention LibXML2. I'm
running Mac OS X 10.3.4 and Xcode 1.2.
