X windows display and fast user switching

  • Subject: X windows display and fast user switching

I have a cocoa app that starts up X windows. It sets the DISPLAY environment variable beforehand, to "localhost:0.0". Problem is --- I have just learned --- is that with fast user switching, it can be "localhost:1.0" and so forth, if another user is logged in.

Does anyone know how to determine what the display number should be?

Drew
