The default button on my application's window at launch time is surrounded by a black square when running under Panther (10.3.4). Everything is normal under Jaguar (10.2.8). This is repeatable on other machines.

I've seen this as well, working with Panther. In my case, it occurred when a text field was too close to a button, similar to your setup; try shortening the text field and see if the problem goes away.

Well, I do hope it's as simple as that. I have someone testing this for me right now. I'll let you what happens.

Thanks, Adam!
