[ANN] Smultron - an open source text editor

Hi!

I just wanted to tell you that I've today released the first public version (0.6) of Smultron.

"Smultron is a text editor written in Cocoa for Mac OS X Panther. It has many of the features that you might need. It features easy selection of the opened documents, line numbers, support for syntax colouring for many different languages, support for text encodings, code snippets, line wrap/don't line wrap, a toolbar, a status bar, HTML preview and many more features."

I have released it as open source and you can find the application and its source code at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/smultron/

In a very humble way I might add that if you have wondered (as I did before I started this project) how to implement syntax colouring, line numbers, text encodings, some bindings, search in toolbars, how to match braces, how to preserve the icon position when you resave a file and other features, you can look at my source code for hints. You will not find *the* solution but you will find *a* solution.

If you do check the code and find any mistakes please (if you can find the time) criticise me viciously - but in a kind way:-) - so that I can learn and be better programmer.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Peter Borg
