I believe it was said at WWDC that it just wasn't possible timewise
for Panther.
How is it any different than a one-column table?
the datasource is extensively different for one thing, and it'll be
interesting to map that onto bindings in a flexible manner.

Nope, NSOutlineView doesn't support binding at all (nor does
NSBrowser).
The fact that the superclass's bindings are visible is a bug.
[demime 0.98b removed an attachment of type
application/pkcs7-signature which had a name of smime.p7s]
