Have you checked whether Apple System Profiler shows the info you
want? I believe it also comes with a command-line tool with which you
could mess. But I'm not sure whether that would be future-safe ... I
vaguely remember that someone from Apple once mentioned about that
command-line tool's output that it could change in any system version.
