Hello!
Listen, I would really like to start an opensource style thing to
extend iTunes a bit, to do something I really wish it did right now.
I want to make a plugin for iTunes that will let it read MP3 CDs the
way some CD players can. They recognize each folder as an album, and
can play each song as a track of that album - track 6, album 3, etc....
I want to make a plugin so that iTunes can treat those cds that have
been properly formatted as MP3 CDs (ie that follow the spec) the way it
treats regular audio CDs - Mount them in the "Sources" list, play the
tracks WITHOUT adding them to the library, and eject the disk when
you're done... All WITHOUT messing the library up.
It doesn't seem like it should be that hard, but I don't even really
know where to start. It might mean actually making some type of
filesystem plugin that knows how to get the OS to deal with MP3 CDs the
way it does with Audio CDs or Enhanced CDs or DVDs or multiple session
CDs, etc. or it might mean an actual iTunes plugin, or maybe it will
need both things... I don't know yet.
So I'm looking for some help.
Any takers?
