Let me also say that I think it is really great that Apple puts this much effort into special accessibility options -- and studies have also shown that even people w/o disabilities find them very useful.

Unfortunately I do depend on the zoom feature, since my vision is probably 10% of that of a normal person and I cannot get corrective lenses.

I have very much enjoyed the zoom feature in Jaguar, but Panther seriously broke it IMHO -- there are basically 4 problems: 1) areas which are hardware scrolled do occasionally cause the graphics to be distorted (when scrolling), 2) there are many "off by one" errors, i.e. when scrolling to a new place, and graphics is then updated in only a subset of this new zoomed rectangle, it will be placed a few pixels off of where it should have been, 3) when the zoom rectangle automatically moves, all mouse and keyboard input seems to be "suspended", causing key presses to be lost, and if items are dragged with the mouse, these are dropped, but worst of all 4) the feature about having the zoom rectangle move automatically to follow the focused element -- even if it was not for all the bugs in this heuristic then it is still very disruptive for my work, and is a constant source of confusion -- it is literally as if someone pushed away the screen every fifth minute (including making you loose the characters typed/items being dragged).

I am really sorry to bother this list about it -- but I have made 3 different bug reports on the issue and written every address at apple which would seem related to handling the disability access, including using their feedback form, but w/o any response whatsoever (my initial bug-report on the issue is still open/analyze)...

The zoom was really perfect in Jaguar! and I would give almost anything to get it back :)

I really hope that someone with influence at Apple will hear my prayers and take it to the next level! :) often I am forced to work in normal mode, because of the problems with zoom, and that is really not good for my back, since I have to sit so close to the screen...

Thanks for your time! and please don't flame me for this off-topic letter, understand that I am seriously desperate to get back what was once one of the greatest advantages for me (as a disabled person) of using a Mac...
