Hi all!
Together with the announcement of an updated version of our DNA
Sequence Trace Viewer, we would like to inform you we have released our
plugin framework as opensource.
In a period where most manufacturers for sequence machines abandoned
the Mac market and decided not to produce a MacOSX native sequence
file reader, we have created 4Peaks, the best trace file viewer
available on any platform. Within one month, 4Peaks has become the
favorite DNA sequence viewer of many molecular biologists using a mac.
Today we published 4Peaks 1.5, bringing many more improvements, and new
features like search motifs and localization in Dutch, French and
German.
But that's not all, thanks to a collaboration with John Timmer from the
Sloan-Kettering Institute in New York, 4Peaks now supports plugins that
allow other people to create their own plugins, bringing even more
features onboard. In order to make life as easy as possible, we offer
the free 4Peaks Plugin SDK, containing all the files you need to start
creating your plugins. It includes documentation, templates, and sample
plugins. The complete plugin SDK is released as opensource, and we
strongly encourage people to explore both the plugins and the plugin
framework for public or private use. People who like to share their
master piece can send us the plugins, which will then be hosted on our
webserver, thereby being instantly available to all 4Peaks users
worldwide!

Mek & Tosj are Alexander Griekspoor and Tom Groothuis, two phD students
at the 4th floor of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Headed by the
characteristic professor Sjaak Neefjes, we are doing cell biological
research studying the immune system and cellular transport. To make our
lives a little bit less complicated, we wrote LabAssistant, a tool to
organize scientific experiments, notes, reminders, etc.
(

enzyme compendium.
Sincerly,
