ICA thumbnails, how to use?

The documentation for the ICA framework lists a thumbnail data type of
"kICAThumbnailFormatICA" as the only option for thumbnails but it
doesn't seem like these thumbnails are recognized by NSImage. How are
you supposed to use them?
