Hi,
Unless I'm missing something, the "Layout / Unpack subview" menu should
do what you want.

Do you mean the "Make subviews of" menu item? That's the simplest
way to introduce a splitview into your nib. The menu item should
become enabled if you select two or more views in a window. What it
does is, it creates a new splitview with the selected views as
subviews. *That's* when it figures out where to put the thumb,
depending on whether the views you chose were aligned vertically or
side by side.
Ok, now here's a question: how do I break a splitview away from its
subviews? I selected my views and made the subclasses of splitview,
but what how do I undo that same operation in the nib? The only way i
see is to select everything inside of the split view, copy it, delete
the view, and paste the views back into the nib. Slightly annoying.
