The locate database is updated weekly, which may be out of date if you
have recently added, deleted, or moved anything.
And it isn't even updated on Macs that are switched-off or asleep and
aren't using anacron or some other maintenance utility to run the
missed cleanup jobs.
The locate database is very useful, but IMO it isn't something you
should rely on from code, at least not on Mac OS X.
