The method seems not to behave like described on the last sentence.

Any ideas, hints?

Maybe a bug in the documentation rather than the implementation since pathForResource:ofType: says: "[...] If the extension argument is nil or an empty string (@), the resource sought is identified by name, with no extension [...]".

Anyway, it's a candidate for the bug reporting system...
