Windows controlled by mouse clicks and keystrokes

I'm writing a program with functionality similar to the command-tab Application Switcher. I would like the user to be able to set a keystroke or mouse button click (with or without modifier keys) that, when executed, displays a window similar to the Application Switcher. The window would only appear as long as the mouse or keystroke combo is held down. Is there a Cocoa-friendly way of doing this? Thanks.
