The conclusion being that, unless I'm missing something obvious, the
entire discussion of whether mouse events are properly translated is
mute, given the graphical translation can't be performed anyway.
Have you considered Squeak? (

It can rotate arbitrary morphs (graphical objects) and its (internal)
windows are just morphs. In fact, I've even browsed the web in 3D...
