Just a nitpick, *completely unrelated to the original question*:

Unlike Java's Object, our NSObject is *not* the mandatory superclass of
anything else. The vast majority of classes inherit NSObject, but there
are other roots in Cocoa (NSProxy), and you may create your own if need
be.
