Yeah, I considered this,

but Apple uses split-views in Mail, Xcode, Finder and Address Book just to name a few. So, I would think that all these apps would benefit from such a feature, and if Apple isn't providing an API for it's own apps, then there must a logical reason to not doing it, right?

I really think that they should give it a good upgrade sooner rather than later - but that will not happen unless some of us start to file enhancement / feature requests!
