I created a cocoa document app and now need for each document to

Can you give us a more precise example of what you're doing? Maybe
just tell us what your app is doing, so I can steal your novel idea
and rush a competing product to market? ... bruhahahaha!
Seriously, I'm still not sure whether you mean:
1) You have one document that refers to other files and folders
around it (like a HTML file with image files and other links)
2) You have an application that can work on either single files or
folders, or a group of files (like a compression program, which can
pack a single file, a folder and all files in it, or create a single
archive out of several files dropped on it)
3) A package. Packages are folders that look to the user like a
single file, but contain other files and folders.
Hmmmmmm?
