I have to plead ignorance on the use of NSUnarchiver and some of the other stuff you're doing in [loadDataRepresentation:ofType:]. My QuickTime knowledge is much deeper than my Cocoa knowledge. However, it looks like M. Uli Kusterer has probably answered your question. I know that I ran into the same problem that he mentions when I started saving the URL for QuickTime movies in documents and trying to reload them later.
