in fact the direct call does work with
AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges (tried it before), but i had the
hope to use SystemStarter for convenience purposes.

It would probably be better to call the startup item directly, like
"/System/Library/StartupItems/AppleShare/AppleShare restart", but
that's just how I've always done it (manually, from the terminal).
It's always worked for me.
