Then ... why use this MAC address thing at all?!? "Bad" users just can
give away the license code and everyone else can register with the
app, regardsless of the MAC address. So you can just drop your MAC
encoding thing, it makes no sense anymore if entering the license code
is the only validation.
I think developers spend too much time on those "funky registration
code hiding things", but it's stolen time. Some people will always
give away registration codes to friends. If you app is good and has an
adequate price, there will also be many people who will buy it.
So, in my opinion, we developers should spend more time in developing
great applications, instead of non-working piracy protection things.

I'm just trying to answer the guy's question. The original poster
wanted a way to prevent users from copying the preference file to
transplant the registration code. This would be a way to do it...
