Why not start with checking what the return code means?

Application not found. However the user told me that another file launcher could open the file with no problems. He also checked his HD to see if there were any problems, but nothing was wrong with that.

I truely wonder why my app is having problems with that.

Maybe the other launcher specified what app to open it with.

I'd ask him to try double-clicking in the Finder, just to make sure there's a default application set. Also, I'd have him Get Info and click Change All... just to make sure that default setting is there and that this file doesn't have a custom application associated with it.
