mouse location across multiple monitors

What is the relationship between the frames of the different screens on a Multi-display macintosh set up and what happens the [NSEvent mouseLocation] as the cursor moves from one screen to another.

I have an application that does some tricky stuff with windows and screen edges, instead of my custom windows dragging half off the screen they stick to the screen edge instead. This currently means my windows can not be dragged from one monitor to another.

Is there any way to simulate multiple screens with soft for testing purposes, there is at least one workspace switching program out there does this behave like multiple displays from a Cocoa programs perspective.
