I don't know if what I found is a bug or a feature. I've added a NSButton to a view, set to be a Square Button with an Icon and Alternate Icon (using TIFF's). I've disabled the bordered option. If a initially set it be disabled, it shows up dimmed in the view. If I programmatically enabled and then disable it again, the button does not dim again.
If this button is placed, say in a tab view, and after I disable the button (without dimming) and switch tabs back and forth it is displayed dim. If I enable the border option and toggle the enabled setting, it dims. The non-bordered versions do indeed disable. You can't click on them. They just don't display dimmed.
