Multi-Document Windows

Can anyone offer any advice on how to approach implementing multi-document windows (in other words, tabbed documents), preferably reusing as much existing classes as possible (NSDocument, NSDocumentController)? Creating the tabs themselves is easy enough, but how should I go about managing multiple documents within a single window?
