Hi,
just a short heads-up that I've put up a new version of Shovel.
Improved usability, self-update etc.:

Shovel is a software-update clone that takes advantage of the MacPAD
file format, which lets you add information relevant to software
updating and live version checks to your application:
http://macpad.sourceforge.net
You'll also be interested that I've entered discussions with the
MacPAD folks for some extensions to the MacPAD format. So, this will
definitely be the way to package and announce your apps in the
future. Better get on board now :-)
Oh, and is anyone interested in a Shovel command line tool or Framework?
