Need to learn Quartz 2D programming

I'm looking for resources to help learn to graphics programming with CG under Cocoa, in the shortest possible time-frame. I know about apples developer resource web-site, but I'm looking for good books, tutorials, and more example code. I want to create some graphically appealing instrumentation that displays data in real time based on some custom data streams from two very different types of hardware. One is a medical instrument, the other is an aircraft model.

I prefer to use Cocoa for programming these instruments because, from what little experimentation I've done so far, it seems to the be the easiest and therefore the quickest way to get results. Of course, if there are other opinions regarding more direct interfaces to CG, I'd like to hear them.

-Michael
