How to "reset" Finder state

  • Subject: How to "reset" Finder state

I am setting up a build system that creates a unique identifier for each build by using a shell script to modify the Info.plist file in my app. The problem I am having with this is that for incremental builds, the Finder doesn't update the version information in the Get Info dialog box unless you log out and then log back in again.

Is there a way to force the Finder to update its cache for an application/bundle/file besides logging out/in? I'd like to invoke a command from a shell script to do this as part of the build so that it happens automatically to keep confusion levels down. This could be in the form of a Cocoa call, command line call, Carbon call, whatever. If I need to write a tool to make a call for me that's no problem.

Thanks.

Brant Sears
