i did check the documentation before posting, and it said only:
You can run PackageMaker from the command line or from a shell script. For information, enter this command on the command line:
<x-tad-bigger>/Developer/Applications/PackageMaker.app/Contents/MacOS/PackageMaker

</x-tad-bigger>i did that, and the GUI started. there was no info about the "-help" parameter. (i tried "--version", but didn't work).

To be fair to XTAL, the Apple documentation about software distribution doesn't say much at all about making packages from the command line, it just tells you about PackageMaker as a GUI application.
