The"New Nib file format" is set to "10.2, and later" in IB Preferences Panel.
So I am warned that :
• <x-tad-bigger>10.2 and later format lets you use new features of Cocoa introduced in Mac OS X 10.2 and later. It writes out the nib file in a file format that can be used only with Mac OS X 10.2 and later.
</x-tad-bigger>It is exactly what I want - do I have to fear anything by saving in "10.2 and later" format ?
Well - sorry, I misunderstood the Save panel text :
"This document is currently using a pre-10.2 nib file format. Saving in this format will result in data loss for 1 of its objects. Clicking the "Save in 10.2 Format" button will upgrade the format, however the nib file will no longer be compatible with pre-10.2 versions of Mac OS X."

I can read that I can *upgrade* to 10.2 [*and later*] format, this is fine for now. ( I was confused and thought I was stuck with "Pre 10.2".
Thanks for awaking.
Francis.

You can set a default nib file format in the preference panel, and (IIRC) a nib file format for the current nib in the save panel.

Why this ?? - I am running Panther 10.3.5 with Xcode 1.5, Interface Builder 2.4.2 (v364) - all the latest stuff.
Where and how this pre-10.2 format comes from ?
