I'm guessing that he is contractually obliged not to talk about the
implementation details of the windowserver, and thus he has to be
careful as to what he says? :-)

Will HIDIdleTime work for you? Property of IOHIDSystem, quite easy to
get -- seems to be in nanoseconds.
