Now that is really strange.
As I already wrote, I've meanwhile solved the problem for me in another
way (by making the buttons outside the tab view refuse first responder
status), but I found your test result remarkable and tried to reproduce
it here with a very simple test window (1 tab view, 1 button outside, 3
buttons inside).
In my application, I had used Layout > Keyboard Navigation > Make
Initial First Responder to set the first responder. Therefore I thought
that this might be what makes the difference, and tried it exactly the
way you describe.
I got exactly the same result as before: tabbing selects the button
outside the tab view as soon as the last item inside the tab view is
reached, ignoring that its nextKeyView is the first item inside the tab
view.
I have no idea where the difference between our test results lies. What
version of IB do you use? I use 2.4.2 (v364) on OS X 10.3.5.
Bye
Uli
